Every unnecessary element gets in the way, every missing detail can complicate matters. Mutant 38 was created for those who understand these differences and want a rucksack designed from the start for the vertical world.
Design for technical ascents, not compromises
Thirty-eight litres capacity holds rope, crampons, ice axe, helmet and all the other equipment a technical ascent requires. Minimalist design does not mean something is missing – it means there is nothing extra. Cross-laced cords on the front panel serve to secure gear accessible during movement, without needing to unpack the rucksack. Attachment points for ice axe and crampons are integrated directly into the construction, not purchased as an add-on.
A removable top lid reduces weight on purely technical climbing ascents – you leave it at base camp and climb with a lighter rucksack. The rucksack is designed to be compatible with a climbing harness – the seat panel does not restrict movement or access to material on the harness.
Carry system for load and movement
A back panel with rigid board transfers load efficiently even under heavy load. Padded shoulder straps with a compression system keep contents stable during climbing – the rucksack does not bounce or shift. Durable materials dimensioned for contact with rock and ice ensure the rucksack lasts where you really need it.
