Rope transport, a parachute jump or movement through difficult terrain – at such moments, the dog's safety depends on the harness it is wearing. The K9 Thorn tactical harness made of structural mesh is designed precisely for these tasks and for protection against injury, but it also serves well in everyday use. The manufacturer consulted police dog handlers and special forces soldiers during its development.
Hardware for rope work
V-rings with a strength of 20 kN are used to suspend the dog during rope transport. The side D-rings are for straps that relieve the hind legs during rope transport – these straps come with the harness. You can use the other sewn-on D-rings when moving the dog clipped to yourself through difficult terrain. It fastens with Cobra buckles from the Austrian company Austrialpin, which makes equipment for climbing and extreme sports: they withstand 9 kN at break and 18 kN in a loop; their body is made of 7075 aluminium, the pins and clamping bar of stainless steel and the clamps of brass.
Load spread across the whole body
The dog retains full freedom of movement and wears it comfortably because the load is distributed evenly across its whole body. The frame is made of structural mesh lined with spacer mesh, which helps the dog breathe more easily under the harness. You can put it on and take it off quickly and attach gear to the MOLLE system. The Pa6 polyamide straps are medium stiff, 2.2 mm thick and have a strength of 20 kN (2,000 kg); their ends are heat-sealed so they don't fray.
