Specification
Extremely durable, lightweight and tailored for demanding users. The rechargeable headlamp Fenix HM53R Garnet is a special edition designed with emphasis on top performance and maximum practicality in the field. It offers a dazzling luminous flux of up to 1200 lumens (ANSI) with a range of up to 158 meters. Its main advantage is the neutral tint of white light (4500 K), which provides truer color rendition and much better contrast in nature.
In addition to the white reflector, the headlamp is also equipped with a strong red light with an output of up to 30 lumens. This does not interfere with eye dark adaptation and, thanks to a pronounced flashing mode, the HM53R Garnet also works great as a safety rear light for a bicycle.
The lamp is powered by the included rechargeable 18350 battery with a capacity of 1600 mAh, which is charged directly in the headlamp body via a modern USB-C connector. There is a practical indicator LED in the control button, so you always know exactly when it is time to replenish the energy. In an emergency, a single-use CR123A lithium battery can also be used to power it (with maximum output limited to 150 lumens). Top electronics with digital regulation ensure constant light output even as the battery slowly discharges. In power-saving mode it can also shine for up to 250 hours continuously.
From headlamp to pocket flashlight in a second: The all-metal lamp can be easily unclipped from the head strap and thanks to a steel clip it can be attached to a belt, pocket or backpack strap. The lamp tailcap is also magnetic, so you can easily secure it to any metal surface. Together with full waterproofing to the IP68 standard (submersion to 2 meters) and high impact resistance, this makes the HM53R Garnet an ideal companion for running, hiking, fishing, camping, as well as for demanding professional work.
The HM53R Garnet version is specially adjusted for the local market and differs from the standard version in the following points:
- The LED in the long-range reflector has a neutral light tint instead of a cold one.
- After warming up it maintains higher output in Turbo mode, it does not reduce output in lower modes.
- The red cone has four power modes instead of three, including an extra economical 1-lumen mode.
- Stronger and faster flashing of the red light allows the HM53R Garnet to be used as a bicycle flasher.
- Memory for the last red light mode.
All lamp parameters (luminous flux, runtime on battery, waterproofing, range and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Usage
There may be a black insulating cover on the battery inside the lamp from the factory. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
- When off, the headlamp turns on to white light by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
- When off, the headlamp turns on to red light by double-pressing the button quickly.
- When on, the headlamp turns off by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
If the headlamp is on, short presses of the button can cyclically switch power modes in the order 3 - 50 - 150 - 400 - 1200 lumens (when turned on to white light), or red 1 lumen - red 10 lumens - red 30 lumens - red flashing (when turned on to red light). The headlamp has memory and will turn on in the last set mode of both red and white light, except for Turbo mode. After turning off in Turbo mode it will always turn on in a high mode.
Overheat protection: During prolonged use of the headlamp at high output modes, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55 °C or higher, it will automatically reduce output by several lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature falls below 55 °C, the output will gradually increase again.
Battery charge indicator: By briefly pressing the button (the headlamp must be off) the indicator LED in the button is activated. If the indicator diode lights green, the battery is charged to more than 80%. Green blinking means 50–80% capacity. If it lights red, it is charged to 20–50%. Red blinking indicates that less than 20% of the battery capacity remains. The indicator works correctly only with rechargeable 18350 batteries.
Charging: Flip open the rubber cover of the charging connector and plug the supplied cable into the lamp (USB-C connector). Plug the other end of the cable into a computer, power bank or USB adapter for mains or car (not included). During charging the side button lights red and after full charge it lights green. After charging the lamp, reseal the charging connector with the rubber cover. Charging a fully depleted battery takes approx. 2.5 hours. The headlamp can be used during charging, but charging time will be extended and available output modes depend on the current battery charge level.
Low battery warning: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower output modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest output mode and the battery is critically discharged, the indicator in the button will start blinking red. However, the headlamp will continue to light until the battery is completely depleted. Note: the low battery warning is calibrated only to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
Locking the headlamp against accidental activation: Loosen the battery cap of the headlamp by a quarter turn; this will interrupt the electrical contact and the headlamp cannot be turned on. The button can also be locked electronically – with the headlamp off, hold the button pressed for 3 seconds. After locking the lamp will flash red. To unlock, hold the button pressed for 3 seconds again.
Warning
- Keep the headlamp out of reach of children.
- Do not shine the headlamp directly into anyone’s eyes.
- Do not disassemble the sealed part in the head of the lamp yourself, doing so will void the warranty.
- Lock the headlamp, remove the battery or loosen the tailcap to prevent accidental activation when the headlamp is stored in an enclosed space (e.g. in a pocket or backpack)!
- Do not shine on flammable objects from immediate proximity to avoid damaging them or creating a hazard due to high temperature.
- If using a single-use CR123A battery, do not attempt to charge it in the lamp.
- If the rubber O-ring appears damaged after prolonged use, replace it. O-rings should also be lubricated to prevent rubber degradation. Following these rules will ensure the lamp is properly protected against water.
- If the headlamp flashes, does not switch to higher output modes, or does not light up, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- The battery is nearly depleted – charge or replace it.
- Contacts inside the headlamp are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
- The rear part of the headlamp is loose – tighten it.
