Il coltello Grik è stato progettato dal coltellinaio americano Andrew Demko, con cui Cold Steel collabora da molti anni. È stato progettato come coltello da lavoro molto funzionale per il trasporto quotidiano. La lama è realizzata in acciaio giapponese AUS 8A. Questo acciaio inossidabile ha ottime proprietà di resistenza e viene utilizzato principalmente come materiale per utensili da taglio. L'acciaio è stato poi trattato termicamente per ottenere un perfetto equilibrio tra tenuta della lama e facilità di riaffilatura. Il sistema Tri-Ad Lock™ impedisce al coltello di chiudersi spontaneamente o involontariamente, anche dopo la naturale usura del tempo.
