L'olio neutralizza i depositi di fumi acidi, è ideale per l'impregnazione di calci di legno, cinture e fondine in pelle. Ballistol forma una pellicola protettiva alcalina sul metallo, grazie alla sua enorme espandibilità, si impregna anche nelle più sottili crepe del metallo. Ballistol è biodegradabile.
