MOLLE system is an abbreviation for the English name, Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment, translated as modular lightweight load-carrying equipment. The MOLLE system was invented in 1997, then massively expanded after the attacks of September 11, 2001, and later became the standard for modular tactical equipment. These include: tactical vests, plate carriers, sport and tactical belts, various carrying panels and a lot of other equipment. This system was originally developed for the armed forces of the US Army, the British Army and the armed forces of the NATO alliance as a new generation of carrying equipment and backpacks. Nowadays, the designation "MOLLE" or "MOLLE compatible" is used for all systems based on the same principle. The MOLLE system can be found in products intended for the army and other armed forces, or also in outdoor equipment such as backpacks and others.
